Smart Cover Cosmetics – Prime Time

December 27th, 2011

smart cover primerAlthough you may use a moisturizer and sunscreen daily before you apply your make-up, this does not guarantee the smooth surface that Smart Cover’s Moisture Primer will give you.

Just as a painter primes their canvas, priming your skin will keep your make-up looking color true and fresh all day long.

Smart Cover’s Moisture Primer Lotion is an all purpose, non-greasy moisture shield that smoothes and prepares your skin before you apply your make-up. In fact, the Moisture Primer Lotion is included in our Starter Kit and our Hollywood Kit.

Recommended by Make-Up Artists — Once you use it, you’ll never want to be without it!

Considering Plastic Surgery?

December 20th, 2011

It’s a question from one of our customers that we wanted to share with you.

“I am thinking of having plastic surgery. Is there a certain age you should be to do so? Can you be too old?”

We asked one of our medical experts, Dr Rudy Thompson, a board-certified Plastic Surgeon that question and here are his thoughts:

Dr. Rudy says, “‘Old’ is a terminology that we use outside the medical field.

I think in the medical field, everybody has an age that’s directly correlated to their medical problems. It goes by the extent of other medical issues like smoking. These factors are a very important part of our profession in terms of choosing who’s a candidate for plastic surgery. It all depends on how healthy you are, not necessarily your age.

This will be important to discuss with your Plastic Surgeon. Also just be sure your surgeon is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). There are individual symbols for each society. An ASAPS member is someone who’s highly specialized in cosmetic surgery.”

As you may know we have many plastic surgeons recommend using Smart Cover post-op to help hide the bruising and redness that can occur. See the full line of Smart Cover products online.

SOS for Large Pores!

October 6th, 2011

If you are one of many people with large pores, there are a few tricks that can help large pores appear smaller:

1.    First, keep skin very clean so that the pores don’t get clogged and look even larger.
2.    Ask your Dermatologist if there are any prescription products that might prove helpful for your condition.
3.    We also recommend Perfect Touch Camouflage Creme which will help minimize the appearance of large pores. When you apply it, use a sponge to blend and achieve a more even, natural finish.  Always start with a smaller amount of concealer as it’s easier to add make-up rather than take it away!

Using Makeup to Recontour Your Facial Features

September 14th, 2011

Did you ever wish you could change your nose? Or your chin?

Well, contouring can help change your facial features temporarily. By using darker shades of make-up to contour, and lighter shades to highlight; imperfect features can appear more attractive so you can enjoy looking in the mirror.

Smart Cover is ideal for contouring. You can highlight with the Perfect Touch Camouflage Crème to soften undesirable shadows under the eyes, at the corners of your mouth, or wherever deep wrinkles or furrows appear. You can even make a receding chin have better definition by highlighting the jaw bones.

Use dark shades to contour a nose that’s too wide. Apply down both sides to make the nose appear slimmer. For a forehead that’s too broad, apply a shading product like the Smart Cover Stick to the outer corners and blend to the hairline. You can also watch chubby cheeks seem much thinner by shadowing beneath the natural cheekbone to create a more sculpted look.

Don’t let the idea of contouring scare you. Use just small amounts of a crème makeup to get started. And, make sure to blend the edges so it looks natural to your eye and set it with some finishing powder and apply with a brush.

Remember our golden rule — highlight your best and contour or shadow away the rest!
