May 15th is Vascular Birthmarks Awareness Day and Smart Cover is proud to be part of the program.

We wanted to share information about an organization that helps so many women, men and children deal with the birthmarks that they have to live with.

Our own Nancy Roberts is the Smart Cover Make-Up Consultant to the members and helps them personally with their concealing needs. Smart Cover’s waterproof formula is recommended by many physicians to help their patients feel more confident as they hide their birthmarks.

Smart Cover Cosmetics was proud to be a partner at the Vascular Birthmark Foundation’s Annual Conference in New York City.  The foundation offers so much in patient support for men, women and children with profound birthmarks, and they received pro-bono consultations with leading physicians in the field.

Vascular Birthmarks, which appear at birth, are non-cancerous tumors made up of abnormal blood vessels. They may disappear or diminish over the years, but they can have a social and psychological impact on children who must live with the stigma of looking different.

Smart Cover was pleased to be represented by Lisa Butera, Esthetics Director, from the Catherine Hinds Institute.  As the guest make-up artist at the conference, she found it personally and professionally rewarding to be able to help these patients understand camouflage techniques.

Lisa said, “I was able to meet with people from across the United States and as far away as England and Australia.  They were so kind and most appreciative of my advice with make-up tips and techniques, and were especially grateful for the concealing make-up donated by Smart Cover Cosmetics.  Experiences such as this conference reassure me that I’m in the right profession doing something extraordinary for people in need.”
